Tuesday, June 23, 2009.  The New York Mets were shutout by the St. Louis  Cardinals 3-0.  The Mets managed only two hits against the Cardinals pitcher   Joel Pineiro.    Livan Hernandez had a very good start, giving up just two earned runs.  Final box score:  Cardinals 3 runs, 8 hits, 0 errors;  Mets 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 error.  Next game: Wednesday, June 24th, 7:00 PM,  St. Louis at New York.

Mets Shutout Nationals

Sunday, June 7, 2009.  The New York Mets shutout the Washington Nationals 7-0 behind Livan Hernandez’s seven shutout innings.  Despite fighting off the flu, Hernandez threw 116 pitches, gave up four hits and four walks while striking out four. The win brought his record up to 5-1.   Final box score: Mets 7 runs, 11 hits, 0 errors;  Nationals 0 runs, 5 hits, 1 error.  Next game:  Tuesday, June 9th, 7:10 PM, Philadelphia A New York.

Mets Lose to Pirates

Tuesday, June 2, 2009.  CC Sabaathia was on the mound for the New York Mets but that wasn’t enough this night to keep the Pittsburgh Pirates from winning the game 3-1.  Although Santan pitched well enough to win, the Mets could not do anything with Pirates starter Zach Duke or the bullpen.
