Amazing. Mets Come from behind to Win

Friday, September 25, 2009. The New York Mets defeated the Florida Marlins today 6-5 in a rare come from behind win in the ninth inning. Cory Sullivan pinch hit in the top of the ninth inning with the bases loaded and drove in the winning run. It was only the seventh win for the Mets this month. Mets Lose Sixth in a Row

Friday, September 18, 2009. Sixth in a row, ten out of their last eleven. That’s how many games the New York Mets how lost in that span. Last night the Mets rallied in the ninth against the Washington Nationals for three runs but fell short, losing 6-5. Sunday, September 13, 2009. John Maine was back in the New York Mets rotation for the first time in over three months and he appeared healthy as he went three innings giving up one run. The Mets went on to score two runs in the eighth and another two in the ninth but fell short 5-4. The Mets face old friend Pedro Martinez in tonights second game. Saturday, September 12, 2009. The hapless New York Mets came from behind and stunned the Philadelphia Phillies 10-9. David Wright hit two home runs and drove in six runs. Carlos Beltran also contributed with a homer. Mike Pelfrey was staked to a four run lead in the first inning but the Phillies had the lead by the third inning. When Pelfrey was taken out in the seventh, he had given up 10 hits and 8 runs. Final box score: Mets – 10 runs, 15 hits, 0 errors; Phillies – 9 runs, 12 hits, 0 errors. Mets Break Out Against Marlins

Thursday, August 28th, 2009. The New York Mets came alive against the Florida Marlins in a 10-3 rout. Tim Redding had another strong outing, pitching into the seventh inning. Pagan and Tatis homered, and the Mets knocked out Marlins starter Sanchez in the fourth inning. Next game: Friday, August 28th, 2:20 PM, New York @ Chicago.

Mets Swept by Philly

Sunday, July 5, 2009.  Johan Santana gave the New York Mets seven strong innings, allowing only two runs.  But Philadelphia Phillies starter Joe Blanton was even better, allowing no runs.  Then the Phillies bullpen finished the job and the Mets were shut out 2-0.  The Met bats seemingly have left town. They are now four games out of first and their record has dropped to three games under .500. Tuesday, June 23, 2009.  The New York Mets were shutout by the St. Louis  Cardinals 3-0.  The Mets managed only two hits against the Cardinals pitcher   Joel Pineiro.    Livan Hernandez had a very good start, giving up just two earned runs.  Final box score:  Cardinals 3 runs, 8 hits, 0 errors;  Mets 0 runs, 2 hits, 1 error.  Next game: Wednesday, June 24th, 7:00 PM,  St. Louis at New York.

Sunday, June 7, 2009.  The New York Mets shutout the Washington Nationals 7-0 behind Livan Hernandez’s seven shutout innings.  Despite fighting off the flu, Hernandez threw 116 pitches, gave up four hits and four walks while striking out four. Wednesday, May 27, 2009.  The New York Mets completed their three game sweep of the Washington Nationals tonight winning 7-4.  Johan Santana earned his seventh win, giving up 3 hits, six walks (four in one inning) while striking out eleven.  Murphy had a career high five rbi, hitting a homerun and a double.  Final box score: Nationals 4 runs, 5 hits, 0 errors; Mets 7 runs, 11 hits, 1 error.  Thursday is an off day for the Mets. Mets Steal a Win

Tuesday, May12, 2009.  The New York Mets snatched victory from the jaws of defeat by besting the Atlanta Braves 4-3.  Carlos Beltran was the hero as he scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth by hitting a double, stealing third and then scoring on a flyout.  In the tenth, Beltran walked with the bases loaded for a walkoff victory.
